Abey Finklea is a 22-year-old college student, educator, and outdoor enthusiast from Baraboo, Wisconsin. She currently serves as the coordinator of Cricket for the Blind in the USA. Abey was first introduced to blind cricket in 2024 when she met the Indian men’s blind cricket team at the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) convention. Inspired by the sport, she traveled to Bangalore, Karnataka for a month-long training in blind cricket. Since returning to the U.S. in November 2024, Abey has been passionately working to grow blind cricket across the country and has taken the lead in forming the U.S. Women’s Blind Cricket Team. What began as a dream is now becoming a reality: the team is preparing to travel to India this November to compete in the first-ever Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup.
